Superintendent Derrick R. Harris I was born on July 30, 1970 in Miami, Florida. His parents are the late Superintendent Irvin Harris, and District Missionary Ruth W. Harris. While attending a revival at Emmanuel C.O.G.I.C., he received Christ as his Lord and Savior. His grandfather, Pastor Raymond Walker Sr. served as pastor. Later the following year, he delivered his first sermon. This message was delivered at The Crown of Glory C.O.G.I.C., where his father served as pastor for thirty years.

Throughout his years of working at his father’s church, he served as usher, musician, choir president, and praise leader. He also went on to win the state Oratorical Contest, and was the first winner of the state youth pageant under State Youth President, Melvin Goggins.

In 1988 he graduated from American Senior High School and accepted a scholarship to Bethune-Cookman College. H e then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the area of Religion and Philosophy. Since 1989 he has owned and operated several businesses that have provided jobs for hundreds of people. Many of these former employees have gone on to operate their own businesses.

On October 18, 1992, he was licensed as a minister of the Gospel. Bishop M.L. Sconiers ordained him as an elder in the Summer of 1995. On September 17th of the same year, Superintendent Harris organized the Master’s Domain C.O.G.I.C. in Daytona Beach Florida. After ten years of service he organized The Crown of Life C.O.G.I.C. on February 1, 2005 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Both ministries focused on transforming lives in the Volusia County Area.

On April 30, 2008 his mentor, role model, and father went home to be with the Lord. It was then that he was appointed Senior Pastor of The Crown of Glory C.O.G.I.C. by Bishop Harvey David Bryan. Since taken over leadership the Crown of Glory has witness many souls being saved and lives changed. In August of 2008, he was promoted to the office of Superintendent in the Western Florida Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. He now serves as District Superintendent of the Greater Daytona Beach District with churches from Volusia County to West Palm Beach County. And the Best is Yet to Come!

Superintendent Harris has held many positions past and present and serves on several committees and boards. These include: District Youth President Emmanuel District, District Youth President Palatka District, Police Ministries Association of Daytona Beach, Co-Founder C.O.G.I.C. Heritage Celebration of Central Florida, Secretary of the Board of Superintendents Western Florida, Associate Trustee Board Bethune-Cookman University, Administrative Assistant State Youth Department, Community Relations Board Daytona Beach, Florida, Daytona Beach Black Clergy Alliance, and many other service organizations.

Superintendent Harris was married to Missionary Darcia L. Harris on March 20, 1993. They have four beautiful children named; Di’erra Sheree, Danielle Morgan, Destiny Victoria, and Derrick Ravel ΙΙ. This Family of promise believes that they can do all things through Christ that strengthens them.
